Popular Tourist destination in Makwanpur

,

Daman
There was a time when every traveler who entered Kathmandu valley by road, passed through Daman (2,322m) enjoying the marvelous view of the snow-capped mountains. Though less frequented by tourists, Daman arguably has the most breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalaya that stretches from the far west of Dhaulagiri to the east of Mt. Everest. You can still enter or leave Kathmandu valley via Daman by traveling along the old Tribhuvan Rajpath (the first highway into the valley) which separates from the present highway from Naubise. Daman is 80 km south-west of Kathmandu and perched on a high ridge. There is a viewing tower within the Daman Mountain Resort fitted with a long range telescope and there are excellent walks around Daman especially along the Palung valley.

Kulekhani(Indra Sarovar)

Indra Sarovar is the largest man made lake constructed at the deep Gorge betn. Markhu & Kulekhani VDC by the Kulekhani hydro project. This is one and only hydro project based on reserve system. Several rivers are blocked by huge dam. This is 7 km. long and famous for rowing and fishery. It is in the distance of 35 km far from both Hetauda and Kathmandu. One can't miss the beautiful surrounding of hills, green forest and starry sky being amazingly reflected in the lake during bright full moon. The brooks, that join the lake (Indrasarovar) and the lake itself are famous for their fresh water fish like trouts.
Chitlang VDC and Stupa of Chaitya Lhown(Ashoka Era)
The history of Chitlang VDC is believed to be related to this stupa which itself holds the history of visit of the great Indian emperor Ashoka. The legend tells us that the name of the VDC ‘Chitlang’ has been derived from Newari ‘Chaittya Lhown’ meaning ‘Chaittya-made of stones.

Hetauda City
Hetauda city, inhabited by almost 100 thousand people and named after Hedamba, is one of the important industrial area of Nepal. It is the headquarter of Makawanpur district and has many facilities like hotel
and guest house, school and college, drinking water, trasportation and telecommunication. The city is famous for its neat and clean environment with greenary. Puspalal Park, Bhutandevi Temple, Banaskhandi and industrial area are the main attraction of the city.

Chisapani Gadi

This is one of the historical places of Nepal. Chisapanigadhi is popular for strategic defence of the nation in the past. This Gadhi located at the strategic height where the weapons & resources were stored for the de fence purpose is sorrounded by the deep trench wall. It used to be the check post for the foreigners and
even for Nepalese to show their 'Rahadani'

As there was no motorable road to Kathmandu everyone had to travel on foot and so motors and cars were carried by porters through this gadhi. Popular KALITOP (Cannon) enhances the beauty of Ghadhi.
